ASHLAND —Dunkin’ Donuts held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning for its new location on Claremont Avenue, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The store, which began construction in July 2023, had a soft opening in November last year. Owners Sarvish and Kamni Arora chose to delay the official celebration until warmer weather and the return of Ashland University students, who make up a significant portion of their customer base.
Mayor Matt Miller, State Representative Melanie Miller, City Councilman Dan Lawson, and Chris Box, director of Associated Charities, were present for the event.
During the ceremony, both Matt Miller and Dan Lawson shared interesting donut trivia. Miller highlighted that Americans consume approximately 10 billion donuts annually. Lawson recounted the history of National Donut Day, which originated from the Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies” who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
In addition to the ribbon-cutting, Dunkin’ Donuts presented a $500 check to Associated Charities. Sarvish Arora expressed his commitment to giving back to the Ashland community, noting that all Dunkin’ franchises contribute to local charities upon opening.
Sarvish Arora, who also owns the Dunkin’ Donuts on Commerce Parkway, emphasized his pride in providing new opportunities for the community through their Dunkin’ locations.
