A family-owned doughnut shop has shut down just six months after expanding to a second location. The Donut Hole by Carl’s Donuts, which opened its downtown Las Vegas location earlier this year, announced its closure on Monday, August 19, via Instagram.
Carl’s Donuts, located at 3170 Sunset Road Suite F, has been a staple in Las Vegas since the 1960s, known for its no-frills approach to classic doughnuts like maple bars, sugary twists, and iced crullers. The shop’s doughnuts have earned a reputation for being consistently fluffy, sweet, and fresh, making them a beloved treat in the city.
In February, Carl’s Donuts launched The Donut Hole at 124 South 6th Street, near Fremont Street, taking over the space previously occupied by the San Diego-based Donut Bar, which had operated there for seven years. The Donut Hole introduced a fresh look with bold black, red, and white accents, along with neon signage. Its menu offered classic doughnuts alongside new creations such as chocolate sprinkle cakes, brûléed cinnamon rolls, iced doughnut holes, croissants, and yuzu passion fruit “croughie” hybrids. The shop initially operated five days a week but extended its summer hours to serve customers until 2 a.m. from Thursday through Sunday.
Despite these efforts, a spokesperson confirmed that The Donut Hole has closed its doors for good. The original Carl’s Donuts location remains open, continuing to serve its loyal customers.
