Owners Lisa and Donald Templeton, responding to popular demand from their customers, have introduced a giant doughnut filled with their signature fluffy Denheath custard. The bakery shared the news on social media, showcasing the impressive 2kg doughnut and writing, “So many people have asked for this, so here it is.”
To put its size into perspective, the bakery notes that this massive treat is equivalent to about 20 regular Denheath doughnuts. The announcement has generated significant excitement online, with one fan commenting, “Stuff dreams are made of!” Another joked, “That would ruin me, but I’m willing to risk it,” while a third added, “I wouldn’t even want to share this… but if I really had to, then I would.”
In an interview with the Timaru Herald, Lisa Templeton revealed that the idea for the oversized doughnut initially came about as a concept for a giveaway. However, the overwhelming response from customers prompted them to consider adding it as a special menu item.
For a limited time, customers can pre-order the cake-sized doughnut for $59, which is roughly half the usual price, and have it delivered anywhere in New Zealand.
