Mister Donut to Debut in Hong Kong This October.
Are you missing the presence of widespread doughnut chains in Hong Kong? There’s good news: Japanese doughnut chain Mister Donut is set to debut in Hong Kong this year.
Mister Donut plans to open its first store in October, with job listings suggesting the location will be in the Yau Tsim Mong district. This expansion is part of Mister Donut’s broader push into the Asian market, following successful launches in Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore last year. Now, the chain is ready to make its mark in Hong Kong.
The franchise is renowned for its signature Pon de Ring, a mochi doughnut with a uniquely satisfying chew that sets it apart from other pastries. Many Hong Kongers visit Mister Donut stores in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, or even import these doughnuts to enjoy them at home.
In addition to the Pon de Ring, Mister Donut offers a variety of other doughnuts, including French Crullers and Old-Fashioned doughnuts, each with a range of flavors such as honey, chocolate, and custard cream.
Mister Donut in Japan is also famous for its seasonal menus. Earlier this year, they introduced the “Sakura Mochitto Doughnuts,” celebrating the cherry blossom season. Hong Kong customers can look forward to similar seasonal and region-exclusive flavors once the store opens.
The entry of Mister Donut into Hong Kong is the result of an agreement between Japan’s Duskin Corporation, the parent company of Mister Donut, and Hong Kong’s Dragon Circle Enterprise Ltd., which also manages the Japanese brand Chateraise in Hong Kong.
The arrival of Mister Donut has sparked speculation about whether Krispy Kreme might return to Hong Kong after its closure in 2008. Regardless of Krispy Kreme’s plans, come October, many will be eager to indulge in the delicious Pon de Rings at Mister Donut.
