Portland’s craft doughnut shop, Blue Star Donuts, has announced the immediate closure of its Venice location. The news was shared via Instagram on July 17, without providing a reason for the shutdown. The comments on the post have been disabled. Blue Star opened its doors on Abbot Kinney in 2015, alongside another location in Silver Lake, which closed in August 2022. Currently, Blue Star has no locations remaining in Los Angeles.
Blue Star gained popularity for its unique doughnut flavors, such as blueberry bourbon basil, Cointreau crème brûlée, and passion fruit cocoa nib. It was known as a rival to Voodoo Doughnut, another specialty doughnut shop from Portland that expanded to Los Angeles in 2017. Origin Unveils New Lunch Menu
Origin, a Korean barbecue restaurant in Koreatown, has launched a new lunch menu priced at $24.99 per person. The menu features a variety of proteins, including yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), spicy marinated raw crab, and grilled bulgogi. Each meal is accompanied by kimchi or soybean stew and a full array of banchan. The lunch is served in the style of a kisa sikdang.
