MADISON, WI — Doughnut breakfast sandwiches, ice cream-topped doughnut sundaes, and maple bacon milkshakes are coming to Wisconsin. Duck Donuts, a North Carolina-based doughnut shop franchise, known for its unique menu and build-your-own doughnuts, is opening its first Wisconsin location near the University of Wisconsin-Madison this summer. The shop announced on its Facebook page that it plans to open in late July at 3308 University Ave., Madison.
Founded in 2007 in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Duck Donuts has grown to over 150 locations across 25 states and internationally in Thailand, Canada, Qatar, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Egypt. There are currently four Duck Donuts locations in the Chicago area, with the closest to Milwaukee in Libertyville, Illinois, just under an hour away.
The menu features items such as the peanut butter and raspberry jelly doughnut, the Chocolate Caramel Crunch doughnut with chocolate icing, peanuts, and salted caramel drizzle, and a doughnut with maple icing and chopped bacon. Duck Donuts is also renowned for its doughnut breakfast sandwiches, which include bacon, egg, and cheese between two plain doughnuts, and doughnut sundaes, which are warm pastries topped with a scoop of ice cream.
