Dunkin’ Unveils Special 4th of July Donuts at US Embassy Party in Manila

by Celia

MANILA, Philippines — Celebrating the 248th Independence Day of the United States of America and the 70th Philippine-American Friendship Day on July 4, Dunkin’, a leading US coffee and donuts company, introduced exclusive 4th of July themed donuts at the US Embassy’s celebration at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City.

The specially-crafted donuts featured a variety of patriotic flavors. Among them were the “Old Glory,” a white chocolate rendition of the American flag; the “Bald Eagle,” filled with strawberry and symbolizing American strength and freedom; and “Uncle Sammie,” a whimsical nod to Uncle Sam, the iconic symbol of the US government. Additionally, Dunkin’s classic “Boston Kreme,” known for its chocolate coating and vanilla cream filling, was also on offer, a staple at Dunkin’ locations worldwide.

In addition to Dunkin’, American doughnut brands like Randy’s Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and newcomer Duck Donuts provided samples. Duck Donuts, originally from Williamsburg, Virginia, showcased its made-to-order doughnuts, freshly prepared upon order at their branches near Makati City Hall and soon at Circuit Mall in Makati City.

Beyond doughnuts, the festivities at Shangri-La The Fort included an authentic American feast with favorites such as sliders, steaks, Macaroni and Cheese, complemented by dishes from US food chains like Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, and TGI Friday’s. Guests also enjoyed a variety of refreshments, including bottomless Coca-Cola.

The event featured music by Filipino-American Grammy winner Bruno Mars and local artists like Jed Madela, creating a lively atmosphere that celebrated both American and Filipino cultures. U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency MaryKay Carlson, expressed her gratitude to all involved in organizing the event and toasted to the enduring friendship between the US and the Philippines.

“In the United States, Independence Day is a time to celebrate with friends and family – usually with food and fireworks, but also with music!” Ambassador Carlson remarked. “Tonight, we are proud to showcase the talent of Filipino artists as they entertain us with a variety of genres from across America.”

She concluded her speech by raising a toast: “Now, I’d like to propose a toast to our Filipino friends, partners, and allies, and to our shared July 4 holidays. Mabuhay!”
