Dunkin’ to Launch First Store in Heredia Province, Costa Rica

by Celia

Dunkin’ is gearing up to start its operations in Costa Rica. Company officials have confirmed that their inaugural store will debut in the province of Heredia. The Dunkin’ menu will feature an array of offerings, including coffee, hot and cold beverages, their signature donuts, and various savory snacks. Patrons can enjoy these items at the restaurant, on-the-go, or delivered right to their doorstep.

This year, the company plans to unveil a total of seven stores nationwide. The renowned U.S. coffee and donut chain aims to significantly expand throughout 2024. Miguel Ramírez, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AR Holdings, the firm overseeing Dunkin’s franchise in Costa Rica, expressed that this launch not only introduces an international brand to the local market but also creates “new job opportunities, contributing to the economic growth of the area.”

Dunkin’ outlets are scheduled to open in various locations across Costa Rica, including Escazú, Sabana, Heredia, Alajuela, Santa Ana, and Moravia, as noted by Antonio Burgos, CEO of AR Holdings. Costa Rica becomes the third Central American country to host Dunkin’s presence, while the brand is already established in several Latin American nations such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.

Earlier this year, the U.S. corporation announced a $2.5 million investment to launch kiosks, inline stores in shopping malls, and standalone drive-thrus. “This partnership between Dunkin’ and AR Holdings marks a milestone for both entities, providing consumers with the distinctive flavor and hospitality that define the brand in other markets,” remarked Antonio Burgos.

According to company sources, Dunkin’ is recognized for its accessibility, early opening hours, and efficient take-out service, making it a convenient choice for quick stops.

Founded in Massachusetts in 1950, Dunkin’ will face competition from other established donut brands in Costa Rica, including Krispy Kreme, which opened its inaugural store in Escazú in May of this year. Additional details about opening dates and new store locations will be disclosed in the coming months.
