PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The iconic California donut shop, Randy’s Donuts, has opened its first location in Arizona, bringing a beloved taste of Los Angeles to Phoenix.
“It’s exciting. It’s really exciting,” said Brian Padilla, the managing partner for Randy’s Donuts Arizona.
Located just off 7th Street and Bethany Home Road, the 1,400-square-foot shop features both a drive-thru and a walk-in area for customers. The menu offers a selection of 60 different types of donuts, including butter crumb, chocolate twist, and Texas-sized donuts.
“It’s kind of hard to find good donuts around here, and because I tried it before, I know it’s good donuts. So, I came to get some for my son too,” a customer shared.
Nearly 8,000 donuts were prepared for the opening day, drawing hundreds of cars and customers who lined up down the block, some waiting for up to an hour to get their sweet fix.
“It’s been going since 4:30 this morning; we’ve had people in line,” Padilla said.
Since 1952, Randy’s Donuts has been serving sweets and smiles. The iconic donut shop in Los Angeles has appeared in movies and shows like Iron Man 2, Mars Attacks, The Simpsons, and Arrested Development.
Padilla anticipates opening more locations in Gilbert and Chandler in the future.
The official grand opening, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, will take place at the end of May after an 11-foot doughnut is installed in front of the store.
