Virginia-Highland Donut Shop Closes, Another Could Be Moving In

by Celia

Doughnut Dollies in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood has closed its doors, but a new donut shop might soon take its place. According to reports from Tomorrow’s News Today and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Salty has leased the space.

The Salty is known for its rotating menu of donut flavors, including brown butter and salt, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate cake. The menu also features donut holes, other pastries, and coffee beverages. The Salty began as a pop-up in 2015 and now operates locations in several cities across the U.S.

The Virginia-Highland location would be The Salty’s fourth shop in Atlanta, joining locations in Buckhead, West Midtown, and near Krog Street Market. The Salty expanded to the Atlanta market last year, describing the city as a “no-brainer” for its business.

Ownership of The Salty was not available for comment.

Doughnut Dollies continues to operate two other locations, one in Atlanta on Howell Mill Road and another in Marietta. The Virginia-Highland shop had been open since 2021.
