MADISON HEIGHTS, Va. (WSET) — The aroma of fresh coffee and donuts now greets residents of Madison Heights at their new Dunkin’ Donuts, which celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.
Unlike the frigid weather experienced during the January opening of the Dunkin’ on Timberlake Road, Thursday saw temperatures nearing 70 degrees. Enthusiastic customers lined up early to be among the first to enter the new store, which marks the 125th location for Coastal Franchising.
Reese Christian, the first customer in line, shared his excitement. “We woke up at like 2:45 to drive here,” he said. Joining him was Emalee Stinnett, who arrived at 4:30 a.m. “We all met up. It was really fun,” Stinnett added.
The first 100 customers received a booklet for free coffee for a year, a compelling incentive for many. “I thought my mom would love free coffee for a year, so I decided to come,” Christian explained with a smile.
Austin Rose, Christian’s friend, accompanied him for the experience, despite not being a coffee drinker. “I don’t even like coffee,” Rose laughed. “But I thought it’d be funny. So here I am.”
To pass the nearly two-hour wait, the duo played cornhole, enjoying the camaraderie and festive atmosphere.
Stinnett and her friends were equally enthusiastic, with Stinnett proclaiming her love for coffee. “I will drink it every day. It will not go to waste with me,” she said. Recalling her morning, Stinnett mentioned the challenge of convincing her dad of her early departure. “I told him, ‘I’m going to Dunkin’ at four o’clock in the morning,’ and he didn’t believe me until I left with my friends.”
Despite the early start, Stinnett affirmed the experience was worthwhile. “I got a latte. It was very good. And the donuts are a classic, you have to get them.”
The new Dunkin’ Donuts in Madison Heights is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., ready to serve the community with its beloved coffee and treats.
