A Brisbane-based donut company, which began as a humble stall at a local farmers market, has clinched the prestigious title of best gourmet donut in Australia at the recent Baking Industry Trade Show.
Decadent Donuts emerged triumphant, securing four awards during the event held in Melbourne by the Baking Association of Australia (BAA). The company notably swept the Best Gourmet Donut category, claiming the first, second, and third positions.
Expressing immense pride in their achievement, Decadent Donuts highlighted the competitive nature of the event, especially in comparison to traditional donut entries. The company emphasized that their success was bolstered by the fact that the BAA awards are judged anonymously by a panel of top chefs. Remarkably, the winning donuts were noted for being gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, wheat-free, yeast-free, nut-free, sulphate-free, vegan, and entirely natural.
The winning recipe, a cinnamon donut, encapsulates the innovative spirit that defines Decadent Donuts. Founded in 2018 by restaurateur David Moore, the company originated from a desire to cater to diverse dietary needs, driven by personal health challenges faced by Moore and his partner.
