Fuwa Fuwa, a popular Japanese souffle pancake cafe originally based in London, has expanded its reach by opening its first franchise outside the capital. Located in the Windsor Royal Shopping Centre, this new venue marks the fourth establishment for the UK chain, known for its airy, cloud-like pancakes adorned with fresh fruits, creams, and honeycomb-topped drinks.
Originating as a modest kiosk in Westfield Stratford, Fuwa Fuwa quickly grew to three locations across London, becoming known as the city’s premier destination for Japanese souffle pancakes. Encouraged by their success, the company chose Windsor for its first venture beyond London, commencing with a soft launch on May 23 at the Windsor Royal concourse.
Mydhili Palagani, manager of the Windsor store, highlighted the unique preparation of their pancakes, emphasizing the use of soufflé techniques that result in a fluffy and “jiggly” texture. She expressed pride in the meticulous process, noting that the pancakes are as fulfilling emotionally as they are satisfying to the palate.
Fuwa Fuwa, meaning “fluffy” in Japanese, captures the essence of their signature dish—light, airy, and soft. Since opening, the Windsor branch has seen bustling activity, particularly on weekends with queues forming outside. The cafe’s social media presence has also contributed to its popularity, drawing millions of likes and views.
Among the cafe’s offerings are distinctive pancake toppings such as blueberry and yuzu, Lotus Biscoff, and the top-selling combination of strawberry and Nutella. Special flavors unique to the Windsor location include Pistachio Milk and Matcha Love, with options available for those seeking gluten-free and nut-free choices.
In addition to their renowned pancakes, Fuwa Fuwa offers a variety of beverages including teas, coffees, and signature “honeycomb drinks” in iced latte, iced tea, and hot chocolate forms. Effy Liu, Fuwa Fuwa’s marketing manager, noted Windsor’s appeal as a tourist hub near Windsor Castle, positioning the cafe favorably as the area’s pioneer in Japanese souffle pancake dining.
Fuwa Fuwa’s Windsor Cafe, situated at Unit 48 in the Windsor Royal Shopping Centre, operates from 10am to 10pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 11am to 8pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from 9am to 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
