Orillia welcomes a delightful addition to its culinary scene with the recent opening of Simply Scrumptious, a new bakery located at 317 Atherley Rd. Owned by Lina Ciprian, a longtime resident of Innisfil with over 20 years of experience in the United Kingdom’s wholesale industry, the bakery specializes in an array of British-inspired sweets and treats.
The family-run establishment features a selection of gourmet cookies, cakes, and tarts, alongside imported goods such as chips, chocolates, and candies directly sourced from the U.K. “We’ve been supplying British stores for 21 years now,” said Ciprian. “Opening our own bakery has always been a dream.”
Simply Scrumptious is not only known for its imported delights but also for its custom cakes, scones, and meat pies, which have quickly gained popularity among locals. Prior to opening the storefront, Ciprian operated a vendor booth at the Orillia Farmers’ Market, where demand for her products spurred the decision to establish a permanent location.
“We received a lot of inquiries at the market, which encouraged us to take this step,” Ciprian shared. “Customers have been very supportive since we opened.”
With a keen focus on offering unique British-themed pastries, Simply Scrumptious stands out from its competitors in Orillia. “Our coconut cream tart, featuring a coconut shell, has become a signature item,” explained Ciprian. “It’s one of the many ways we strive to provide something different for our customers.”
Beyond British treats, the bakery caters to local tastes by offering Canadian classics like butter tarts and a selection of coffee beverages. “Our goal is to offer a diverse menu that appeals to everyone,” Ciprian added.
Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, Simply Scrumptious has quickly become a popular destination in Orillia, fulfilling Ciprian’s long-held ambition of bringing a taste of the U.K. to her community. “It’s been a dream come true,” she concluded.
