OAKMONT, Pa (KDKA) — Oakmont Bakery, a beloved spot for sweet treats, is planning to expand its parking lot to address ongoing traffic issues.
Currently, the bakery offers about 112 parking spots for both employees and customers. The parking lot is accessible via Third Street and Hulton Road. However, the area often experiences heavy traffic due to the bakery’s popularity, nearby businesses, and the local high school.
To alleviate this congestion, co-owner Tony Serrao announced plans to expand the parking lot onto newly acquired land behind the building.
“The goal is to provide direct access to Archie Street,” Serrao explained. “This will help divert some traffic from Allegheny Avenue and allow easier movement from Cedar Way to Archie Street, reducing stress for both our staff and customers.”
The proposed expansion would add approximately 48 parking spaces, primarily for employees. Serrao noted that the borough has been supportive and receptive to the expansion plans.
“It’s a good problem to have, needing more parking,” Serrao said. “I believe this will be a great improvement for the bakery.”
While the project is still in the preliminary stages, Oakmont Bakery is optimistic that by next fall, the new employee parking lot will be operational, benefiting both the company and the community.
