Krispy Kreme is marking the 30th anniversary of the popular ’90s sitcom “Friends” with a special line of themed donuts.
The new flavors include:
Friends: An original glazed donut with chocolate icing, sprinkles, and white chocolate.
We Were on a Coffee Break: A donut topped with caffè latte-flavored icing, a chocolate swirl, frosting, and a white chocolate topper.
Trifle: A strawberry and custard-filled donut, topped with chocolate curls and green sprinkles.
How You Doin’?: A classic ring donut decorated like the purple front door of Monica and Rachel’s apartment, featuring purple icing and mango and passionfruit-flavored frosting to mimic the iconic gold peephole.
These treats are designed for “Friends” fans, but there’s a catch: they are only available in the United Kingdom.
This decision has left many fans in the United States puzzled, given that “Friends” is an American show. When the new donuts were announced on Snackolater’s Instagram account, American fans quickly voiced their concerns in the comments.
One user wrote, “This is where I am just confused by the decision-making process. Friends was a huge U.S. show (I know it is big internationally as well, but come on), yet this is a U.K. thing? I love getting to see all of these cool flavors and snacks, but it’s also showing me how much we miss out on.”
Another commented, “Could I be more disappointed this isn’t available here?”
One fan speculated why the release was in the U.K.: “UK? But that’s where Ross met Emily! And Monica and Chandler started being more than friends and doing laundry!”
For now, online orders for the donuts are available only with a U.K. postal code. Fans in the U.S. are hopeful Krispy Kreme will eventually bring the treats stateside.
