A French dining guide has recognized several Miami-area bakeries as among the best in the United States in its annual pastry awards. La Liste, a global ranking and dining website and app, included seven Miami spots in its 2024 awards:
Bachour: Known for its beautiful baked goods, Bachour also offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Location: 2020 Salzedo St., Coral Gables.
Edda’s Cake Designs: Specializing in cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other events, this bakery has been open since 1978. Locations: 4315 SW 72nd Ave., Miami, and 2549 NW 79th Ave., Doral.
Julia & Henry’s: This downtown Miami food hall features the vegan bakery L’Artisane and Baklava Bakery, which serves Middle Eastern pastries. Location: 200 E. Flagler St., Miami.
La Migaja Mexican Bakery: Located inside Mi Rinconcito Mexicano on Calle Ocho, this bakery is famous for its cakes, especially its Day of the Dead creation. Location: 1963 SW Eighth St., Miami.
Taste Rite Bakery: Specializing in Jamaican patties, this takeout spot has several locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Location: 18400 NW Second Ave., Miami.
Yann Couvreur Cafe: Opened by the famous French pastry chef Yann Couvreur, this café and patisserie in Wynwood serves breakfast, lunch, and pastries. Location: 2243 NW Second Ave., Miami.
Zak the Baker: This colorful kosher bakery in Wynwood, owned by Zak Stern, is best known for its bread, particularly its sourdough and challah. Location: 295 NW 26th St., Miami.
Antonio Bachour, the Puerto Rican-born pastry master known for the Bachour restaurant in Coral Gables and the Design District restaurant Tablé, received the Pastry Innovation Award for his creative business ideas.
La Liste aggregates data from nearly 1,000 international sources, including press, customer ratings, awards, and other restaurant guides. Jörg Zipprick, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief, compares it to Rotten Tomatoes for food or Metacritic for video games, noting it allows for spotting new trends and interpretations by different media quickly.
Other U.S. winners include Dominique Ansel in New York, who received the Pastry Game Changer Award for his industry-changing innovations like the cronut, and Margie Lorenzana Mankzke of Republique Café in Los Angeles, who won the Pastry Talent of the Year Award.
