A recent survey conducted by Betway aimed to uncover the states with the greatest affinity for bagels. The findings revealed that three New England states, including Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, ranked among the top 10. Perhaps indicative of a preference for heartier breakfast fare over croissants, these states displayed notable enthusiasm for bagels.
New Hampshire secured its position as the seventh most fervent bagel-loving state in America, with a notable 56% of residents consuming bagels two to three times per week.
Sesame emerged as the preferred bagel flavor among New Hampshirites, with 44% expressing a fondness for it, closely followed by Plain and Asiago, each at 33%.
In terms of fillings, cream cheese reigned supreme among Granite Staters, with a resounding 78% indicating a preference for it. Other popular choices included bacon, egg, and cheese, as well as ham and cheese, each garnering 22% of the vote.
Nationwide, cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese claimed the title of America’s favorite, underscoring the widespread adoration for these doughy treats. With an average annual expenditure of approximately $400 on bagels per person, it’s evident that Americans harbor a deep-seated affection for these circular delicacies.
