Australian doughnut and coffee chain Lukumades has ventured into the United States, with its inaugural outlet now serving in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Originating as a mobile food truck enterprise in 2016, Lukumades was established by Exarhos Sourligas. Since then, the brand has expanded to encompass nine establishments across Australia and an additional 13 international locations spanning six different markets. Specializing in Greek-inspired loukoumádes, which are small, deep-fried dough balls, Lukumades complements its offerings with a variety of espresso-based drinks, iced beverages, milkshakes, and ice cream.
Exarhos Sourligas, the CEO and founder of Lukumades, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s foray into the American market, stating, “Our journey to the US marks an exciting new chapter for Lukumades. We are proud to introduce our irresistible vegan-friendly Greek doughnuts, homemade gelato, and freshly ground coffees to Americans. The US market’s vibrant culture and diverse culinary scene present an incredible opportunity to share our delicious little doughnut balls with a completely new audience.”
To facilitate its expansion in the US, Lukumades has enlisted the services of St. John, a Florida-based agency, as its official representative. The brand anticipates launching a franchise program in the United States later this year, further bolstering its presence in the region.
