Lubellas Patisserie, a beloved bakery nestled in East Dallas, has recently announced a temporary closure. Renowned for its delectable croissants and pastries, the bakery is shuttering its doors for a brief period to embark on an expansion project aimed at nearly doubling its current size.
Situated at 10323 Ferguson Rd. within the esteemed Casa View Shopping Center, Lubellas, owned by pastry chef Maria Becerra and her husband Ismael Trejo Gonzalez, is poised to expand into the adjacent space.
The bakery bid farewell to patrons on Mother’s Day, May 12, marking the start of what is anticipated to be a few weeks of construction.
This expansion initiative follows closely on the heels of the bakery’s inception in September 2022. Throughout its tenure, Lubellas has garnered widespread acclaim for its impeccable array of baked goods, ranging from croissants, Danish pastries, cakes, cookies, and muffins to cheesecakes, scones, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. Notably, Becerra has earned accolades for her custom-decorated cakes, tailored to individual preferences.
Moreover, Lubellas has cultivated a dedicated following for its savory offerings, including exquisite quiches, tarts, and croissant sandwiches featuring an assortment of fillings such as turkey, tuna, chicken pesto, and smoked ham.
Becerra, a three-time nominee for CultureMap’s Tastemaker Awards for Best Pastry Chef in 2022, 2023, and 2024, elucidates that the expansion will effectively double their current space.
“We’ve secured the neighboring space,” she affirms. “Expanding from our existing 1500 square feet to an additional 1500 square feet will afford us approximately 3000 square feet in total. This expansion will enhance both our kitchen facilities and seating capacity.”
The expansion project entails comprehensive renovations, encompassing electrical upgrades, installation of a new AC unit, plumbing enhancements, flooring and wall refurbishments, and the addition of another restroom. To support the bakery during this period, patrons are encouraged to purchase gift cards for their loved ones. Becerra remains highly accessible on Instagram for inquiries and updates.
“We’re in the process of integrating the two spaces,” she explains. “While it entails a significant investment, the overwhelming support from our patrons spurs us on. It’s a daunting task, but we’re confident in our ability to realize our vision.”
