FLETCHER – The Henderson County Planning Department recently greenlit a proposal for a new Dunkin’ Donuts establishment, marking the fifth addition to the county’s roster of the popular chain. Scheduled for construction at the intersection of South Naples Road and Asheville Highway, the venture is poised to further bolster the franchise’s presence within the region.
Permit records indicate that the application for a major site plan was granted approval on May 2. This forthcoming Dunkin’ Donuts will join three existing locations in Hendersonville, with others situated at 2547 Chimney Rock Road, 845 Spartanburg Highway, 97 Terminal Drive in Fletcher, and 754 Upward Road in Flat Rock.
The initiative was spearheaded by Hunter Earney, serving as the assistant project manager at Fleming Engineering, and the property, zoned as regional commercial, is under the ownership of Rick Moore of Mills River, as per county land records. The designated address for the new establishment will be 121 S. Naples Road, positioned adjacent to G.B. Shoes and the Naples Post Office.
Details regarding the commencement and completion dates of construction remain elusive, as attempts to contact Earney proved unsuccessful. The proposed Dunkin’ Donuts structure is slated to span 2,230 square feet, with plans to remove an existing brick building on-site to accommodate the development. The site blueprint outlines provisions for 16 parking spaces encircling the building, along with a drive-thru feature.
The most recent addition to the Dunkin’ Donuts family in Henderson County took place in August 2023, with the inauguration of the Spartanburg Highway locale. Boasting a legacy dating back to 1950, Dunkin’ Donuts has solidified its status as the largest coffee and donuts brand in the United States. Presently, it operates over 13,200 restaurants across nearly 40 global markets, with its corporate headquarters situated in Canton, Massachusetts.
