Hazukido, a renowned global croissant sensation, quietly closed its first Vancouver cafe despite its grand opening. Situated at 280 Nelson St in Yaletown, the well-appointed bakery-cafe debuted in October 2022, marking the Taiwanese franchise’s initial venture into Metro Vancouver. The brand, celebrated for its Japanese-inspired baked treats, particularly its sweet and savory croissants, aimed to captivate local taste buds.
However, as of May 8, a check on Google indicates Hazukido is permanently shuttered, with the phone number disconnected. The storefront sits gated and stripped of its products, shelves now bare.
Attempts to reach out to Hazukido Vancouver’s franchisee in late April regarding potential closure yielded no response. Meanwhile, the City of Vancouver’s records show a business license application for the former Hazukido location, earmarked for a new restaurant venture named Wren. Currently, no further information is available about this upcoming establishment.
Despite the closure of its Yaletown branch, Hazukido maintains a presence in Metro Vancouver. Another franchisee introduced the first Hazukido “cafe plus” concept in Richmond’s Aberdeen Mall in January.
Before Hazukido, the Nelson Street address housed the inaugural Vancouver location of Montreal-based vegan fast-casual chain Copper Branch.
