A bakery located on Long Island has initiated a voluntary recall of certain products amidst allegations of selling Dunkin’ Donuts disguised as homemade gluten-free treats. In response to the accusations and in collaboration with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, The Savory Fig has decided to recall its manufactured baked goods. This action is being taken as a precaution due to the potential presence of undeclared wheat gluten, soy, and/or milk allergens in their baked items. The bakery released a statement on April 24, emphasizing their commitment to consumer safety.
The controversy arose in March when a customer reported receiving a doughnut from The Savory Fig that appeared to be sourced from Dunkin’ Donuts. The doughnuts, which were marketed as vegan and gluten-free, reportedly tested positive for gluten. However, Michell Siriani, the owner of The Savory Fig, refuted the allegations.
