After serving the Cortland community for a decade and a half, Just Pizzelles, a cherished family-run bakery, is bidding farewell. Owner Christina Benton announced the forthcoming closure, scheduled for the approaching weekend, citing a desire to prioritize their family life.
Reflecting on the decision, Benton conveyed in a press release the bittersweet nature of the closure, stating, “They say all good things must come to an end, and I guess that’s true for now.” She elaborated on the demands of running a small family business, acknowledging the toll it took on their dedication, time, and personal lives. “It is now time for us to enjoy our family and begin to ‘live’ life,” Benton remarked, underscoring the importance of cherishing moments together given life’s brevity.
For 15 years, Benton, alongside her husband Allan and their daughter Emma, dedicated themselves to the bakery’s success. Expressing gratitude to the Cortland community for their unwavering support throughout the years, Benton conveyed heartfelt appreciation in the release.
“We are now onto our next chapter,” Benton stated, choosing to eschew farewells in favor of a hopeful “see you later!!!!” sign-off.
Just Pizzelles has ceased accepting orders, marking the end of an era for Cortland’s bakery scene.
