Mister Donut Announces Collaboration with Kyoto Tea Merchant Gion Tsujiri, Unveils Hojicha-Inspired Donuts
Mister Donut, the renowned Japanese donut chain, has once again delighted its customers with the latest installment of its Misdo Meets collaboration series. This time, the confectionary giant has partnered with Kyoto tea merchant Gion Tsujiri to introduce a range of delectable treats sure to captivate donut and tea enthusiasts alike.
While Gion Tsujiri is celebrated for its matcha offerings, the spotlight in this collaboration shines on hojicha, a roasted green tea variety. Distinguished by its toasted nutty flavor and deep brown hue, hojicha takes center stage in the newly unveiled creations.
The first offering, the Nama Pon de Ring Uji Hojicha, features Mister Donut’s signature spherical segmented donut infused with Gion Tsujiri’s hojicha sourced from Uji, Kyoto Prefecture’s renowned tea-producing region. Complementing the hojicha-infused dough is a luscious hojicha glaze, adding an extra layer of flavor and visual appeal.
Taking indulgence to new heights is the Nama Pon de Ring Uji Hojicha Kinako. This delectable treat eschews traditional glazing in favor of a dusting of kinako (roasted soybean powder) sugar, imparting a unique texture and taste sensation. To elevate the experience further, each donut comes with a packet of brown sugar hojicha sauce for a customizable touch.
Despite the potential messiness inherent in drizzling sticky sauce onto a powdered sugar donut, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate savoring every decadent bite of the Nama Pon de Ring Uji Hojicha Kinako.
Both the Nama Pon de Ring Uji Hojicha and the Nama Pon de Ring Uji Hojicha Kinako are priced at 220 yen and 242 yen, respectively. They will be available for purchase starting April 24 until late May, alongside the previously introduced Miso Meets Gion Tsujiri Pon de Double Uji Matcha, Pon de Uji Matcha Crispy Arare, and Pon de Uji Matcha Wasanbon Warabimochi.
For those eager to sample the full range of tantalizing offerings, Mister Donut is offering a bundle pack containing all five donuts for 1,100 yen. It’s an opportunity for enthusiasts to indulge their cravings and experience the irresistible fusion of flavors crafted by two iconic brands.
