South Korean bakery-café chain, Paris Baguette, has marked its entry into the Philippine market with the opening of its inaugural store at the Mall of Asia shopping center in Manila.
The move follows an announcement made by Paris Baguette’s parent company, SPC Group, in August 2023. SPC Group disclosed that its Malaysian franchisee, Berjaya Food, would spearhead the expansion into the Philippines. Originally slated for the fourth quarter of the preceding year, the launch saw a slight delay. Berjaya Food, which presently oversees five Paris Baguette outlets in Malaysia, has articulated intentions to establish five additional sites in the Philippines by the conclusion of 2024.
An official from SPC Group conveyed, “With Paris Baguette’s quality and expertise from operating over 4,000 stores domestically and internationally, we aim to lead a new bakery trend in the Philippines.”
The Philippines represents Paris Baguette’s 12th global market and the eighth in East Asia, following its presence in South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. Beyond East Asia, the bakery-café chain maintains a footprint in France, the UK, the US, and Canada. Moreover, it has formalized a memorandum of understanding with the UAE-based Galadari Brothers Group to establish outlets across the Middle East.
Established in South Korea in 1988, Paris Baguette currently boasts a network of 3,750 stores within its native market and over 500 outlets internationally.
