Three Dog Bakery, renowned for its artisanal dog treats, has moved from its longstanding location in St. Matthews to a new residence in Westport Village, marking a significant milestone in its nearly 25-year journey.
Co-owner Shelby Simpson views this relocation as the initial stride in the company’s progressive trajectory, expressing satisfaction with the transition. “They are super friendly neighbors,” remarked Simpson, emphasizing the warm reception from the Westport Village community and management team, which is notably dog-friendly.
The move comes amidst a burgeoning trend in American pet care spending, as highlighted by market research firm Grand View Research. In 2023 alone, Americans expended over $8.5 billion on dog treats, a testament, according to Simpson, to the evolving perception of dogs as cherished family members rather than mere pets.
“We have people that come in every year for dog treats, and every month for treats, and some every week for treats,” shared Simpson, underscoring the enduring popularity of Three Dog Bakery’s offerings.
In addition to its signature handmade treats, Three Dog Bakery now offers an array of natural pet food options, including the recently unveiled “No Bake Carob Bites” recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup Carob Powder
1 cup Skim Milk
2 tablespoons Honey
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
3 cups Bran Flakes Cereal
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the wet ingredients.
Add Bran Flakes and mix until well combined.
Form the mixture into balls and place them on a cookie sheet.
Refrigerate until firm.
This relocation marks an exciting chapter for Three Dog Bakery as it continues to cater to the evolving needs of pet owners, offering both beloved classics and innovative new options for furry companions.
