The name “Umaga,” which translates to “morning” in Tagalog, derives its inspiration from the esteemed Filipino greeting, “Magandang Umaga,” symbolizing a fresh beginning and a welcoming ambiance with each patron’s visit.
Umaga Bakehouse presents a diverse array of offerings, celebrating the culinary heritage of the Philippines. From classics like Pandesal and Ensaymada to innovative creations such as pan de coco and ube-infused delicacies, the menu caters to a spectrum of tastes. Featured selections include Sans Rival, Siopao, Bibingka, Pancit Malabon, Halo-Halo, Ube Horchata, Longanisa Roll, Menudo Buns, and Ilocos Empanada.
The inception of Umaga Bakehouse dates back to 2007, when Robert and Kissel crossed paths while employed at a bakery. Bonding over their shared love for baking and Filipino culture, the duo embarked on a culinary journey that ultimately led them to the vibrant culinary landscape of Chicago.
