Mars has announced the opening of a $237 million bakery facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, as part of its Nature’s Bakery project.
The new facility will create more than 190 jobs in a 339,000-square-foot bakery when it opens in July 2025.
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Nature’s Bakery is part of the Mars, Incorporated family of brands and is now the eighth “best-selling and fastest-growing cereal and snack bar brand” in a $4 billion category.
Nature’s Bakery products are currently sold in stores across the US, including Target, Walmart and Costco.
Commenting on the opening of the new bakery, Steve Gardiner, CEO of Nature’s Bakery, said: “I am excited about our strategic expansion with the establishment of a state-of-the-art baking facility in Salt Lake City.
“This investment marks a significant milestone in our brand’s ability to increase capacity to meet growing consumer and retailer demand. As a self-manufacturer, this facility joins our existing bakeries to reflect our commitment to innovation and quality, and underscores our confidence in Utah’s thriving business environment. We look forward to contributing to the local economy, nurturing the community and creating employment opportunities as we further our brand purpose of nourishing families and empowering them to thrive”.
Nature’s Bakery has been part of the Mars family of companies since 2020, and Juan Martin, president of Health & Wellness at Mars, Incorporated, shared that the investment “symbolises our commitment to responsibly scale our brands and upholds Mars’ pledge to be America’s premier destination for insurgent brands”.
