The popular coffee and donut chain has 12 locations in Milwaukee, including two airport kiosks. If the Bay View location is added, the total number of locations will reach 13.
Franchisee Ravi Pandya plans to open a cafe at 3259 South Chase Avenue, located in a multi-tenant retail building that also houses an AT&T store. Dunkin’ will occupy 1,167 square feet of commercial space on the south end of the building, offering takeout and drive-thru service, pending city approval.
Pandya is an experienced operator with seven Dunkin’ Donuts locations in the Milwaukee area. He cited that experience in a recent license application filed with the city, along with an occupancy permit.
Dunkin’ Donuts, founded 75 years ago and headquartered in Massachusetts, now has more than 11,300 stores worldwide. Its menu includes donuts, donut holes, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, hash browns, bagels and more.
In recent years, Dunkin’ has focused more on its beverage offerings, including coffee, espresso and tea. The brand’s signature iced drinks include Coolata, Frozen Chocolate and Frozen Matcha Latte.
While Dunkin’ is an international brand, it’s a family business for Pandya, who is the director of franchisees and development for Pandya Management Inc. “Ravi has been involved with Dunkin’ his whole life,” according to the company’s website.
The new Dunkin’ restaurant’s business license application is pending before the Milwaukee City Council. If approved, the restaurant plans to be open daily from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The new store will employ about 10 people and offer 22 on-site parking spaces, according to documents filed with the city’s zoning board.
The Bayview Building encompasses several vacant commercial spaces between AT&T and the proposed Dunkin’, just south of a shared parking lot that also includes a Piggly Wiggly-anchored shopping center, a Goodwill store and other commercial facilities. The Dunkin’/AT&T building is due to be completed in 2021.
The property, excluding outbuildings along West Oklahoma Avenue, is owned by PJR Properties, which also operates Piggy Wiggly stores.
Another franchisee is planning to open a Dunkin’ on North 27th Street. A third franchisee already opened a new Dunkin’ on East Congress Avenue in October.
