ROCKFORD — A new dessert cafe specializing in handmade donuts, slow-brewed coffee and small-batch ice cream is opening soon on Perryville Road on the city’s east side.
According to the Greater Rockford Arab Chamber of Commerce, Donut Disturb is coming to the convenience store inside the Marathon gas station at 2975 N. Perryville Road.
The goal is to have the renovations completed and open by the end of May. Mustafa Abdul and Ali Hariz worked hard to bring the chain here. They said they are happy to see the community’s enthusiastic reception to the new cafe.
Abdul said the brand originated in Alabama and the Rockford location is the first in Illinois. He also said a second Illinois location is opening soon in Chicago.
“Whether you’re in the mood for coffee, donuts or ice cream, Donut Disturb is designed to be a cozy, inviting place to take a break and enjoy simple, delicious treats,” the Greater Rockford Arab Chamber of Commerce said in a press release. “Looking ahead, Donut Disturb plans to expand across the U.S. and will launch retail products such as cold brew coffee, ice cream and donut boxes by 2026.”
