San Francisco’s newest gourmet donut shop, George’s Donuts & Merriment, has quickly become a favorite among locals in the West Portal neighborhood. The long-awaited opening had patrons eagerly lining up along West Portal Avenue, a testament to the community’s desire for high-quality pastries and a cozy spot to gather.
More than just a place for glazed or jelly-filled treats, George’s Donuts offers an experience crafted with culinary skill and a touch of nostalgia. Co-owners Lea Dudum and Janina O’Leary spent nearly two years planning and developing the shop before opening their doors.
“Donuts bring joy, they bring nostalgia,” Dudum told ABC7. The menu features a variety of sweet donuts, alongside salads, sandwiches, and other hearty options.
Chef O’Leary, who has experience working at Spruce and Bacchus Group, is the creative mind behind the savory dishes. Recently, George’s Donuts & Merriment also updated its hours, now opening at 8 a.m. to serve customers earlier in the day.
