Honey Creme Donut Shop, a staple of the New Albany community for almost 80 years, announced on Facebook Wednesday that it will close its doors for good next month.
In a heartfelt post, the family-run business expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received over the years. “After nearly 80 years of serving the New Albany community with love, laughter, and delicious donuts, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of Honey Creme Donuts,” the post read. “Our family has cherished every moment of this journey since the mid-1940s, but the time has come for us to turn the page and step away from this beloved tradition.”
Honey Creme’s final day of service will be March 3.
The post also thanked the generations of loyal customers, from early morning regulars to families who made the shop a part of their traditions. “The recipes, the laughter, and the community spirit will stay with us forever,” it continued. “Thank you for making Honey Creme a cherished part of New Albany.”
In September, the owners announced they would be auctioning off the business. According to the auction listing, it was sold for $750,000.
