Shipley Do-Nuts, one of the nation’s largest donut and kolache brands, has opened its first location in North Carolina at 31 Optical Ct. NW in Concord, just north of Charlotte.
Founded in 1936 in Houston, Shipley offers more than 60 varieties of freshly handmade donuts, including its signature plain glazed donuts cut in the iconic Shipley hexagon shape, along with filled, iced, and cake donuts, bear claws, coffee, and more.
The brand is also famous for its kolaches (savory pastries with various fillings), available in flavors like Bacon, Egg & Cheese, Ham & Cheese, and Sausage, Jalapeno & Cheese.
The new Concord location, locally owned by John and Lillian Brijeski, will offer a “Hot Glazed Donut Guarantee” from 5-11 a.m. daily, ensuring that guests can enjoy warm, fresh glazed donuts during those hours.
“It’s a big responsibility to introduce a legacy brand to a new state, but we are confident Shipley’s variety of sweet and savory options will be a big hit throughout our community,” said Lillian Brijeski. “We look forward to serving a menu that meets breakfast and snack-time needs.”
Shipley has plans to expand further in North Carolina, with five more Charlotte-area locations in development. The brand is actively seeking franchisees in cities like Raleigh-Durham, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, with upcoming discovery days in Raleigh and Charlotte on April 22 and 24.
“Our expansion into North Carolina is a strategic step in our brand’s growth,” said Shipley Do-Nuts CEO Flynn Dekker. “This opening brings our footprint to 13 states, and we are excited to introduce Shipley to North Carolina residents who are trying our donuts for the first time.”
