Mello, one of Vancouver’s popular donut spots, will be closing its westside location on Arbutus. The announcement was made on Instagram on Tuesday, Feb. 11, with the operators expressing their sadness about the decision.
The closure is due to “the development of the building,” according to the shop’s owners. This is the second of Mello’s two Vancouver locations.
“We know many of you have already heard, and we’re truly heartbroken,” said the operators in the Instagram post. “This situation was unavoidable, and we are deeply saddened by it.”
The closure comes as no surprise. Last summer, Mello’s neighbor, seafood shop Finest at Sea, closed after 20 years. In 2023, a rezoning application was approved to build a six-storey mixed-use apartment building on the site.
