Marietta Donuts, a popular bakery known for its variety of doughnuts and pastries, will soon open its third location, marking its second in East Cobb. The new store will be located in the Sprayberry Collection shopping center at 2520 East Piedmont Road, Suite 3. The business plans to open before Christmas, according to a recent social media post.
The first Marietta Donuts, founded in 2016 by Sokcheat Heng and his business partner and girlfriend, Sophal Chhim, is located next to a Shell gas station at 1282 Johnson Ferry Road. The shop quickly gained popularity for its wide selection of doughnuts, as well as other offerings like fritters, kolaches (a Polish pastry with sausage), croissants, cinnamon rolls, eclairs, breakfast biscuits, bagels, and a variety of coffees and teas.
In 2021, Marietta Donuts expanded with a second location on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw.
East Cobb News reached out to Marietta Donuts for further details about the new location but has yet to receive a response.
The Sprayberry Collection shopping center, located near East Piedmont Road and Sandy Plains Road, was once home to Cafe 33 and other small businesses. However, many storefronts are now vacant. The center is also close to the former Sprayberry Crossing Shopping Center, which is being redeveloped into East Cobb Walk. The first phase of this project, EVOQ of East Cobb, is a 55-and-older apartment building currently under construction. Additional townhomes and retail spaces are also planned for the redevelopment.
The new Marietta Donuts location will occupy 1,200 square feet of space previously used by a hair salon.
