Krispy Kreme is ringing in the Year of the Snake with a special release of zodiac-themed doughnuts in Japan. The limited-edition treats, available from December 26 to January 14, include two new designs inspired by the snake and the festive season.
At the heart of this release is the “Milk Cream Snake” doughnut. This unique creation features a milky white chocolate coating, symbolizing the white snake, a creature believed to bring financial luck in Japan. The snake’s outline is decorated with matcha-flavored green swirls, while crunchy white chocolate flakes mimic scales. Inside, the doughnut is filled with a smooth milk cream for a touch of sweetness. The eyes and tongue are depicted with bitter chocolate and a strawberry jam glaze, giving the doughnut an adorable and whimsical look.
Alongside the snake, Krispy Kreme introduces the “Lucky Strawberry Ring,” a festive doughnut designed in auspicious red and white colors for good luck. Coated in a strawberry chocolate, topped with strawberry sugar, and garnished with freeze-dried strawberries, it’s a fruity treat that’s perfect for the New Year.
In addition, Krispy Kreme brings back the popular “Chocolate Snowman” doughnut, a seasonal favorite that adds a touch of winter charm to the lineup. The three doughnuts will be sold individually for 363 yen (approx. $2.35), 319 yen, and 341 yen, respectively.
For those looking for a special deal, Krispy Kreme is offering mixed sets that include all three doughnuts. However, note that single doughnut sales will pause between January 1 and 5, and the Snowman doughnut won’t be available individually from December 21 to 25.
Alongside the doughnuts, Krispy Kreme is also launching its annual fukubukuro lucky bags, a popular New Year’s tradition in Japan. Available for sale starting January 1, these bags come in three different price tiers and include a mix of doughnuts and exclusive items. Each fukubukuro comes with a canvas tote bag and a “Doughnuts Passport” that can be exchanged for 12 doughnuts of your choice. App members can also enter a lottery to purchase a lucky bag from November 22 to 26, with winners announced on December 5.
With these festive treats and lucky bags, Krispy Kreme is offering a sweet start to the New Year. Fans are hoping other chains will follow suit with their own zodiac-inspired releases in the coming weeks.
