Every winter, Mister Donut fans eagerly anticipate the chain’s annual Pokémon collaboration, which has become a holiday tradition. This year, the spotlight is on Diglett, the Ground-type Pokémon, who joins Pikachu in the latest limited-edition doughnut collection.
Launched on November 6, the new doughnuts come with a special twist: exclusive merchandise is available for customers who purchase doughnut sets. The “Goods Set,” priced at 1,990 yen (roughly US$12.94), includes three doughnuts and a limited-edition bag, perfect for fans looking to commemorate the collaboration.
Reporter Maro was quick to grab her own set, hoping to secure one of the exclusive blankets that come with the purchase. To her delight, the set sold out quickly, with the Diglett doughnut flying off the shelves by evening. However, Maro had reserved her set in advance, ensuring she wouldn’t miss out on the special treat. She also couldn’t resist adding Pikachu to her collection, ultimately bringing home all three Pokémon-themed doughnuts, along with a Pon de Wreath doughnut included in the set.
The Pikachu doughnut, a fan favorite since its debut in 2018, features a rich caramel custard-flavored chocolate coating and is filled with a generous helping of whipped cream. But it’s Diglett who takes center stage this year. The new doughnut is designed to resemble the Ground-type Pokémon emerging from the hole in Mister Donut’s iconic Pon de Ring, a doughnut made up of eight connected dough balls. Diglett’s chocolate-coated choux pastry body contrasts nicely with the chewy texture of the Pon de Ring, offering a delicious and fun twist.
While it might have been tempting to pair Diglett with a Pon de Wreath doughnut, Maro chose to enjoy it as intended in its “home turf.” Despite the tough decision to split Diglett in half, the delightful filling inside made it well worth the sacrifice.
As a bonus, the set also includes a blanket featuring not just Diglett but other Pokémon designs, all of which cleverly fold into a Super Ball—or “Great Ball,” as some may call it—adding an extra level of Pokémon fun. Once you finish the doughnuts, you can still admire the characters on the packaging.
For those wanting even more Pokémon-themed sweets, Mister Donut will soon release the Churo de Dugtrio, available starting November 27, with preorders beginning on November 15.
If you’re hoping to catch Diglett before it disappears from the menu, be sure to act fast—this special doughnut will only be available for a limited time.
