HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) — Ziggy Donuts, a beloved specialty donut shop in York County, has closed its physical store and plans to expand its food truck fleet.
Owned by father and son John and Dan Ziegler, Ziggy Donuts started as a food truck in April 2021. The Zieglers, originally from Gettysburg, previously ran a successful DJ business in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 severely impacted their business.
Looking for a new venture, they decided to share their family’s secret donut recipe with the community. Since then, Ziggy Donuts has gained popularity for its variety of specialty fried cake donuts, including flavors like maple bacon, s’mores, fruity pebbles, and peanut butter.
In 2022, Ziggy Donuts opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 130 Eisenhower Drive in Hanover. However, on October 23, the shop announced via Facebook that it would close this location and transition to operating their food truck full-time.
“After much thought and prayer, we’re saying goodbye to our brick-and-mortar location and hitting the road full-time with our donut food truck,” the post read. “This change allows us to bring our delicious treats to even more of you in the community. We are so grateful for your support and can’t wait to serve you on the go!”
John Ziegler confirmed that they completed the move from their Hanover shop earlier today. Looking ahead, the Zieglers plan to add one or two more food trucks to their fleet and hinted at an exciting new offering that “people have never seen before.”
