Taylor Swift Sparks New Orleans Donut Craze with Exclusive ‘Swifty’ Treats.
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Pop icon Taylor Swift isn’t just making waves at the Superdome; she’s leaving her mark on the New Orleans food scene as well. In celebration of her concerts, District Donuts Sliders Brew has launched a limited series of nine new “Swifty” donuts.
Owner Chris Audler shared that the team has been hard at work for months to prepare for this release.
“We make everything in-house, from the pastry creams to the buttercreams and sprinkles. It’s been months of planning and thinking about flavors. Everyone on the team suggested favorite songs to inspire the donuts,” said Audler.
Each “Swifty” donut is named after one of Swift’s popular songs. According to employee Jean-Pierre Eoudreaus, the excitement among fans has even turned him into a fan of the music.
“It gets so busy, you almost feel like you’re in a blank space. But really, all you can do is shake it off and keep going. I knew this was going to be trouble, but no bad blood so far!” Eoudreaus joked.
Fans like Charlotte have embraced the themed donuts as an additional way to celebrate Swift’s presence in New Orleans, beyond the concert.
“I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, so being able to enjoy something like this outside of the concert is exciting,” Charlotte said.
Audler notes that the fan-driven enthusiasm has been overwhelming.
“The buzz from tourists is incredible. I haven’t seen this kind of excitement in New Orleans in a long time,” Audler added, looking forward to what other big events may bring.
