Couple Reopens Strite’s Donut Shop, Inviting Community to Share Sweet Memories.
The newly reopened Strite’s Donut Shop is attracting visitors eager to relive college memories and savor its famous donuts. Stone, a longtime customer, shared that he and his partner plan to visit the shop every time they are in the city.
Strite’s offers a variety of treats, including donuts, coffee, milk, and cinnamon rolls. The owners aim to expand their menu to include breakfast and lunch sandwiches and tea by 2025. Dawn, one of the owners, mentioned that the shop features weekly and seasonal specials, including a gingerbread donut that will launch in early December to celebrate the holidays. Although most of their business comes from take-out orders, Strite’s also provides catering services, which Dawn noted has presented some challenges.
“Catering, on top of retail, has been very demanding, but we’re very thankful for that,” Dawn explained.
Dawn credited her experience as a bookkeeper in her father’s business for helping her navigate this new venture. She emphasized that the family-oriented atmosphere from their original mobile model has been preserved in the new location. Josh Kirchner, a fryer at the shop, expressed his enthusiasm for working there.
“It’s been awesome,” Kirchner said. “I enjoy it a lot. The atmosphere and the people I work with are the best part. I’ve worked in restaurants before, but never making donuts. It feels more close-knit. We’ve got the best donuts in town.”
