LENEXA, Kan. — The fourth annual Mr. D’s Donut Charity 5K took place Sunday morning in Lenexa, blending fitness with fun for non-competitive athletes who appreciate a good donut.

Titled “Donutcha Stop Walking and Running 5K,” the event featured a complimentary health and wellness fair. Local chiropractors, physical therapists, fitness instructors, and nutritionists offered free advice, adjustments, and stretching sessions at the Lenexa Public Market.

Johnny Chen, the owner of Mr. D’s Donuts, highlighted the importance of small businesses supporting each other. He stated, “We really just want to help the community out because the community helps us out. They support small businesses, especially during COVID. Now that we are post-COVID, many businesses are struggling with inflation and supply issues. By coming together as a group, we can support each other.”

In celebration of the event and National M&M Day, Mr. D’s introduced a special edition M&M donut. All proceeds from this treat will contribute to a scholarship fund for the culinary program at Kansas City, Kansas Community College.
