Doughlab Hawaiian Donut Shop Nears Opening in Sterling.
The new Doughlab Hawaiian donut shop is making significant progress toward its opening day. A sign now marks the location in Sterling, and interior construction is nearly complete.
Hawaiian donuts, known as malasadas, are deep-fried pastries filled with sweet or savory fillings, often topped with powdered sugar or various other toppings.
For long-time residents of the area, Doughlab represents a rebranding of the former B. Doughnut, which previously operated several locations in Loudoun County. This change took place about a year ago.
The new shop will be located in the Cascades Overlook center in Sterling, alongside Harris Teeter grocery store, Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurant, and Burton’s Grill & Bar.
The Burn first reported Doughlab’s plans for this location back in August. The shop is taking over the space that was formerly occupied by an Abbott’s Frozen Custard, which closed in late 2023.
Doughlab’s menu will feature a variety of malasada flavors, both filled and unfilled, which will rotate on a weekly basis. Among their signature offerings is a savory donut filled with whipped cream cheese, topped with chives or bacon, and coated with everything bagel seasoning.
Currently, Doughlab is awaiting final permits and the arrival of some essential equipment. The team is aiming for a November opening.
