Krispy Kreme Launches Ghostbusters-Inspired Doughnuts for 40th Anniversary
Krispy Kreme has unveiled a special collection of doughnuts in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the classic movie, Ghostbusters. Starting on October 7, fans can enjoy the Krispy Kreme x Ghostbusters Collection, which features four unique doughnuts and a neon drink.
The first doughnut in the collection is the Ghostbusters Cookies N’ Creme Doughnut. This treat starts with Krispy Kreme’s original glazed doughnut, dipped in chocolate icing, and topped with Oreo pieces, Oreo buttercream, and a No Ghost logo.
Another offering is the Ecto-Sprinkled Doughnut, made with the same original glazed doughnut. It features an orange icing dip and a sprinkle of neon sprinkles, enhancing its Halloween theme.
The collection also includes two doughnuts inspired by iconic characters from the original film: the Slimer Doughnut and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut Pull-Apart.
The Slimer Doughnut caters to fans who enjoy filled treats. It is an unglazed doughnut filled with lemon filling, dipped in purple icing, and topped with a green slime-shaped icing puddle and a Slimer-shaped candy.
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Doughnut Pull-Apart consists of glazed Doughnut Dots that form the character’s body, complemented by marshmallow-flavored buttercream and a candy piece to complete the look.
In addition to the doughnuts, Krispy Kreme is offering Slimer’s Slime-ade, a neon-green variation of lemonade.
The original Ghostbusters movie, featuring stars such as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver, was directed by Ivan Reitman and grossed $300 million at the box office upon its release.
Wendy’s Celebrates 25 Years of Spongebob Squarepants
Meanwhile, Wendy’s is drawing inspiration from another beloved franchise. Starting on October 8, the fast-food chain will launch the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab in partnership with Paramount, commemorating the 25th anniversary of Spongebob Squarepants.
The Krabby Patty Kollab Burger features a beef patty topped with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and a “top-secret” Krabby Kollab sauce, all sandwiched between a toasted bun, according to a press release.
Fans can also enjoy the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, which blends Wendy’s classic vanilla Frosty with pineapple-mango puree for a tropical twist.
