Krispy Kreme Confirms Permanent Closure of Two Mississippi Locations.
Six months ago, the doors of two Krispy Kreme donut shops in South Mississippi were locked, the drive-thru was closed, and the “hot” signs turned off. In March 2024, the company announced, “The two shops currently closed may reopen at a later date.” However, hopes of reopening faded when the exterior signs were taken down.
On Thursday, Krispy Kreme confirmed that the Ocean Springs and Gulfport locations will close permanently. The company stated, “Along with our franchisees, we are always evaluating our retail footprint regarding consumer trends and market dynamics. The two shops have permanently closed.” They added that they look forward to serving customers at their Hattiesburg location.
The Hattiesburg store is located at 5006 Hardy St. Customers can still find boxes of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts at Rouses, Walmart, and other grocery and convenience stores in South Mississippi.
In a statement to the Sun Herald, Krispy Kreme expressed gratitude for their fans’ loyalty, saying, “It is a privilege to be part of the MS Gulf Coast community.” While classic glazed donuts are available locally, customers wanting seasonal flavors like maple butter crème or salted caramel cheesecake must travel to Hattiesburg or visit the nearest locations on Hillcrest Road in Mobile, Alabama, and Clearview Parkway in Metairie, Louisiana.
