New Albany, Ind. — If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a bakery, that dream may soon come true..
An auction for the beloved New Albany doughnut shop, Honey Creme, will start on October 11.
Honey Creme has been serving customers on Vincennes Street for nearly 80 years. The current owner, Jason Vanhorn, believes it’s time for him to step back.
Vanhorn, who has worked at Honey Creme since he was 11 years old, expressed his desire for a different lifestyle. “I just wanted to have time to myself and do what I want to do instead of starting life at 3 a.m. every morning,” he said.
The auction winner will receive everything, including the baking pans and the building.
Vanhorn is confident about the future of his family’s legacy when he hands over the keys. “It’s always been more fun just making people happy with doughnuts than anything,” he noted.
For those interested in bidding, Honey Creme will host two open houses. The first will take place on October 2 from noon to 1 p.m., and the second on October 15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
