Dutch Girl Donuts to Return to 24-Hour Service in Detroit.
Detroit’s historic Dutch Girl Donuts will resume 24-hour service starting next week. Located at 19000 Woodward, the renowned doughnut shop will be open around the clock from Tuesday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 6 p.m., closing only on Mondays.
Paddy Lynch, the new owner and lifelong fan of Dutch Girl Donuts, announced the change. “Reinstating 24-hour service is a tribute to our history and a way to deepen our community ties,” Lynch said. “We look forward to serving our customers anytime, whether they’re early risers or late-night visitors, with the same high-quality doughnuts Dutch Girl is famous for.”
Lynch, who also manages Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors and owns the Schvitz Health Club in Detroit, took over Dutch Girl Donuts in late 2023. He has invested in new equipment and worked to restore the shop after it closed temporarily and was damaged during burglaries. Dutch Girl Donuts, founded by John and Cecelia Timmer in 1947, remained under Timmer family ownership until 2023.
Since its reopening in May, Dutch Girl Donuts has attracted many loyal customers. Initially, it operated six days a week from 6 a.m. to 4 or 6 p.m., depending on the day.
