Kilted Donut to Reopen Leith Branch After Two-Year Hiatus.
When Kilted Donut announced the closure of their Leith branch in April 2022, locals were deeply disappointed. The popular bakery, celebrated for its fresh, homemade artisan donuts, had to close its Great Junction Street location due to rising living costs, increased expenses, and staff shortages.
Now, more than two years later, the beloved donut shop is preparing to make its return to Leith, much to the excitement of the community.
The owners, Mark and Lena, shared the news on Instagram, hinting at the comeback with a playful post: “The Leith store is cooking, the bun is in the oven, the donut is in the fryer! You get what we’re trying to say here… Kilted Donut Leith, coming soon.”
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from their followers. One excited customer commented, “This is amazingly good news… we’ve missed you. We’ll get the kettle on.” Another fan expressed their joy, stating, “This has single-handedly cured my seasonal depression,” while a third remarked, “Just walked past the store before seeing this post and screamed.”
Kilted Donut currently operates branches in Grassmarket and Morningside Road. The reopening of the Leith location is eagerly anticipated, bringing a sweet treat back to the community that has been waiting for its return.
