Clyde’s Donuts recently highlighted its seasonal dessert offerings at the 2024 International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) show, held from June 9-11 in Houston. The company referenced data from Datassential, which revealed that 65% of millennial consumers express strong interest in seasonal desserts.

The new seasonal flavors introduced by Clyde’s Donuts include:

Summer: Pink Lemonade Cake Donuts, Raspberries & Crème Cake Donuts, and Blueberry Lavender Old Fashioned Donuts.

Fall: Spiced Chai Old Fashioned Donuts and S’mores Cake Donuts.

Winter: Hot Chocolate Cake Donuts and Candy Cane Cake Donuts.

Spring: Cream Cheese Red Velvet Cake Donuts and White Iced Heart Donuts with Sprinkles.

Clyde’s Donuts also shared insights from its research, stating that 57% of consumers are drawn to nostalgic flavors. Additionally, 44% of consumers indulge in donuts at least once a week, while 40% enjoy their donuts with coffee. Notably, one in five consumers buy donuts specifically as after-dinner snacks or desserts. The company has observed a remarkable 150% increase in spiced donuts over the past four years. Overall, the donut category has experienced 52% growth during the same period, making donuts one of the fastest-growing dessert options.

Cyrus O’Leary’s Mini Pies Expands Flavor Options

Sara Lee’s Cyrus O’Leary’s Pie Co. brand has introduced new pie flavors and sizes. The company’s research indicates that mini pies are especially popular among younger consumers, while customers of all ages appreciate having size options to suit their needs.

For in-store use, the company provides half-pie packaging for its classic size. Mini cream pies are now available in a variety of fun flavors, including Lemon, Tiramisu, Strawberry Shortcake, Banana, and Coconut. The Mini Coconut Cream Pie recently won an award at the 2024 American Pie Council’s National Pie Championships.

Superior On Main Offers Seasonal Cookie Varieties

Sara Lee has also showcased a selection of seasonal cookie flavors under its Superior On Main brand. Lisa Myers, the brand manager of frozen bakery, explained that the packaging for all cookie flavors is consistent. This design allows in-store bakeries to keep Superior On Main cookies readily available, simply swapping out flavors as the seasons change. This strategy ensures that the display remains fresh and appealing to customers.
