This Donut Shop In Nakameguro Has a Cult Following for Its Fresh Donuts

by Celia

This takeaway doughnut stand occupies the now-closed Starbucks counter beneath the tracks at Naka-Meguro Station. Operated by popular Fukuoka bakery Amam Dacotan, the shop offers eight varieties of nama, or freshly baked doughnuts, known for their chewy texture and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

All doughnuts are made with trans-fat-free shortening and an exclusive Japanese flour blend. You can choose from two types of doughnuts: a brioche-based doughnut and a more cake-like confectionery doughnut. Each doughnut starts at just 240 yen, and popular flavors include the original, raspberry doughnut with raspberry cream cheese filling, and lemon sauce pistachio doughnut. The most unusual of all is the prosciutto doughnut, which has chopped olives added to the dough and is served with prosciutto di Parma.

If you want to try these delicacies, it’s best to arrive early. The shop’s store has long lines of people eager to try these specialty doughnuts. Donuts are available while supplies last, so hurry up.
